Course Objectives

Bradley House Butler - Course ObjectiveOur main aim at the school is to impart the skills and etiquette required to enable you to confidently assume the role of butler to a household, be it a town house or a formal country mansion, the course has been developed using experience of both.

You will then be able to take everything you have learnt and simply adapt it to the routines and requirements of the particular house in which you obtain a position.

Why take the course?

Firstly this is part of the wider question ‘why become a butler?’
Being in private service can be an interesting and varied career and financially rewarding, as salaries are typically high in recognition of ones flexibility and loyalty.

The tied accommodation enjoyed by most butlers makes sound good sense in these days of high property prices and can often immerse you in pleasant surroundings in your working life.

A job well done is intrinsically rewarding, a professional butler is independent, organised & one step ahead, and far from being bothered unduly by his employer is more often left to get on with the established routines and duties under his own self-discipline.

Having attended the school shows to any prospective employer that not only have you had formal training, but that you are serious about your choice of career.

We are also certain that your stay at Bradley House will prove to be an enjoyable experience, not least because of the beautiful and interesting environment in which you will study.

Students are invited to arrive on Sunday between 6pm and 7:30, and the course ends 12 days later on the Friday.

Bradley House Butler - Course ObjectiveDue to an intensive programme it should be noted that there are a mixture of some early morning starts and late evenings, par for the course in the life of a butler, but a few hours are taken each afternoon to either relax at the house or perhaps to walk in the surrounding parkland or into the village.

All meals are provided freshly cooked and coffee, tea & biscuits are always available.

As the house is a venue for wedding parties at weekends, see www.bradleyhouse.org, we decamp on the first Friday to a 15th Century inn situated in an attractive local small town.

Each student has their own en-suite room here for 2 nights, and we have a small private conference room in which to hold the talks and minor demonstrations that are a feature of the weekend, some being given by guest speakers.

We return to Bradley House on the Sunday to continue with the practical lessons, culminating in the service of formal dinner parties hosted by select outside guests toward the end of the week.

If you wish to be sure of a place on the course the secure online booking form will process payment via most major credit cards of a deposit, set at £500.00. Total cost of the course is £3,600.00 and the balance is due 10 days prior to the course date you have reserved, payment can then be either made via the web site or by sending a cheque, if preferred.

For the future we will, with your permission, keep your details on file so as to add to our database, this information will be used solely for connecting you with prospective employers
